Practical Information

Accommodation
Accommodation is in a 4* Hotel in the town of Kenmare, which is beautifully located at the bottom of Kenmare Bay. Evening meal can/will be provided in the Hotel restaurant, depending on the package deal.

In addition, there is the possibility of staying in a self-catering house if you prefer.

If you want to arrange your own accommodation in the area, we can offer pick-up there.

Arrival and departure
Arrival in Dublin on Sunday (unless otherwise agreed).  It is necessary to rent a car on arrival in Dublin and it is a good idea to have 2 named drivers for the car. It is also possible to fly to Cork or Kerry Airport from several destinations in Europe. Transfer from and to Cork or Kerry airport can be arranged.

Hunting morning and evening Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday, with return journey home on Thursday or Friday.

We always advise our guests to book an evening flight home from Dublin, as you need 7.5-8 hours to allow for the drive from Kenmare to Dublin, handing over hire car, and adequate time at the airport.

The hunting trip can always be adapted according to your wishes and needs.

Permits
It takes a minimum of 8 weeks to get both your hunting permit and firearms license approved. It is therefore advisable to book your trip well in advance.

Your own hunting license/insurance and EU weapons passport are also required. Please note that your original EU weapons passport must be submitted to the authorities in Ireland for approval of  your weapons. Expect to be without your EU weapons passport for up to 9 weeks.

If you do not want to bring weapons, we also offer on-site rentals. In the case of gun hire, an Irish firearms licence is still required, but you do not need to send your EU weapons passport.

Dress
Water proof jacket and good boots are essential.

Fleece jacket that you can take off or on as the temperature rises or drops.

Breathable base layer that can be quickly washed and dried.

Scarf, mask or hood.

Hunting gloves.

Mosquito repellent. Optional mosquito net for your head.

It is possible to wash at the B&B.

Taxidermy
Trophies are boiled off locally. The trophies are sent to the respective groups/hunters at the end of the season.

Shoulder mounted trophies are also an option.  We use a professional taxidermist, who is recognised in Europe. Special requests regarding trophies can be arranged directly with the taxidermist, who lives about 1 hour drive from the area where we are hunting. We recommend that the taxidermist sends your shoulder mounted trophies, as they are insured by him.

Other experiences
Ireland offers much more than hunting. Irish Deer Hunting can provide advice and guidance about other areas and attractions in the country if you want to combine the hunt with experiencing more of Ireland.

We recommend:
